Trump backs Tennessee governor’s tuition grants

President Donald Trump applauded Tennessee lawmakers Tuesday amid a special session called by Gov. Bill Lee to advance his Education Freedom Act.

"Congratulations to Tennessee Legislators who are working hard to pass School Choice this week, which I totally support," Trump said on social media. "We will very soon be sending Education BACK TO THE STATES, where it belongs. It is our goal to bring Education in the United States to the highest level, one that it has never attained before. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

"Thank you so much President Trump and Sen Blackburn for your support," state Sen. Bo Watson, R-North Chattanooga, said on social media. "Along with many of my colleagues, I continue to feel very strongly that educational scholarships will open so many new doors of opportunity for our children and their families."
