Tennessee GOP lawmakers say ban on gender-affirming care protects children
GOP lawmakers gathered at Collegedale City Hall on Monday morning to discuss their belief that Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for minors — currently being challenged by the federal government before the U.S. Supreme Court — protects children.
"This bill, as passed and signed into law, does two things," said state Sen. Bo Watson, R-Hixon, "protect children and it protects the authority of the state of Tennessee to regulate medicine within the state of Tennessee, and we feel confident that we will be successful at the Supreme Court with that."
